Recently, I designed a mascot for my self hosted Jellyfin and Navidrome instance. Her name is Divi! She's inspired by early 2000's anime design with a bit of digital and biblical references sprinkled in. I'm really happy with how her design came out. I've been posting her on my Instagram and she seems to be popular with my followers. I hope someone draws fan art of her (੭˃ᴗ˂)੭.
Above was her initial design. A few tweaks but not much has changed since then. I decided to make her simply black and white later on. However, I still kinda wanna give her actual color.
This is closer to her current design. With this piece I wanted a pixelated look for an old web aesthetic. This was created for the on-boarding page for my self hosted servers.
These are some stickers I designed for people who donated to support my self hosted servers. I have yet to give them out because my printer is out of ink (｡ᵕ ◞ _◟).
Lastly, this is a Valentine's Day drawing I did last week. I haven't posted it on Instagram yet because I want to post it exactly on Valentine's Day. This is her current iteration.
Drawing her is really fun so I'm excited to put out more pieces. It's funny, some of my friends claim this is my "girl-sona" and I think that's PREPOSTEROUS. They all say "it's the girl version of you" and between you and me I think that's kinda all the female characters I design.
I had another mascot character that's a bit similar to her. Her name is NHK-chan and she was designed to be a mascot for a Discord server I was in with my close friend group from high school.
This is her original design I drew way back in 2018. She's changed a lot since then but I'll save that story for a future blog post. In a way Divi is the evolution of NHK-chan. Maybe I'll draw them together some day.
