This post is going to be a bit of a rant ( ◡̀_◡́). I've been using Apple Books for reading my legitimately owned digital books. However, recently I've been wanting to read some comics that I have downloaded but Apple Books doesn't support CBZ files (the usual comic book and manga format)!
It's so frustrating because I wasn't even planning on using Apple Books in the first place. I was originally going to run my own self hosted digital library for books but even THAT doesn't have good software. I've tried Komga, Kavita, Stump, Booklore, man you name it. They all have their own quirks and caveats that build up to just make them unusable for me.
Why is it not simple like Jellyfin or Navidrome? Why are there so many alternatives and why are they all so different?! It's overwhelming, it's frustrating, it's daunting, it is DUMB!!!
